%X The objective of this work is to evaluate the comparison of vegetation indices (NDVI)derived from AVHRR-NOAA and SeaWIFS-SeaStar images in São Paulo and Paraná States. The images from AVHRR sensor (bands 1 and 2)are processed using the GAPS software provided by GIMMS (Global Inventory Monitoring and Modeling Studies)group from NASA/GSFC, while data from SeaWIFS sensor (bands 6, 7 and 8)are processed using a software developed at INPE. The initial evaluation of SeaWIFS NDVI images derived from either band 7 or band 8 shows to be very comparable with the well known AVHRR NDVI images.
